Children athletes will be at Big White from all over the world

Big White Ski Resort will be putting its best foot forward next month when the ski hill plays host to the alpine events at the International Children’s Winter Games.

Competitors from the local area as well as from as far away as Australia, Switzerland and the Grand Cayman Islands will converge on Big White from Jan. 26 to 31 for the Children’s Games.

The alpine skiing events include giant slalom and ski cross, two events where speed and precision are musts. The snowboarding categories are slope style and snow cross, where athletes will throw caution and themselves in to the wind.

Next month, on the slopes of Big White, fans just might be lucky enough to witness future Olympians at the International Children’s Winter Games.
